Hintergrund[]
One Direction gaben am 11. April 2014 in einem 7-sekündigen Video auf YouTube bekannt, dass "You & I" die vierte Auskopplung von ihrem Album Midnight Memories sein wird. Gedreht wurde das Musikvideo in Somerset, am 24. März 2014. Regie führte Ben Winston, der auch als Regisseur/Produzent für "A Year In The Making", "This Is Us", Best Song Ever" und "Story of My Life" tätig war.
Die offizielle Radioversion wurde am 14. April 2014 bei YouTube hochgeladen. Eine kurze Videobotschaft von Liam wurde des Weiteren am 14. April veröffentlicht, in dem er bekannt gab, dass wenn man "You & I" bei iTunes vorbestellt, außerdem eine besondere Botschaft von den Jungs und einen Remix von ihm, den "Big Payno Remix" bekommt.
